This morning it was the turn of the base, because the base will be out of sight, it will not have any finish, I therefore wanted to do the best in ensuring it won't warp or twist, therefore I sealed the end grain of all the pieces with glue-size, a mixture of PVA glue and water 10/90% respectively. I then left this to dry.
Whilst it was drying, I thought I should remain productive, so out came the brushcutter, and the lawn had a trim!
Then it was time to assemble the base, I drilled and countersunk the side rails, and then assembled the base in the Gazebo, as it was the only place flat and large enough to take it.
Each 2x4 rail was glued and screwed with 2 x 3 1/2" screws at each end, there is certainly some weight in this.
Now the workshop is looking bear again!
The four planks, are the two side rails, to be attached to the frame, and the other two, will be cut down to make the header rails on the head and foot boards, the stack of leftovers, will be used in the construction of the new bedside tables... I think!
The first three years of my Blog follow my journey settling in to life following my move to Colombia in 2012. After yet another a break from Blogging, I am back, but with a change of emphasis, due to health problems, I have been spending less and less time in the workshop, so decided I either had to close the Blog, or revert to it's original use...a diary! So thats what I am doing, it feels good to be back.
